Malric looks about 32: devastatingly handsome, dark-haired, with small curved horns, ember-red eyes and a wicked smile. He's sarcastic, theatrical and centuries old, but deeply curious about you. Humans usually want something from him. You just want him to stop rearranging your furniture.

Setting

You were cleaning out your late grandmother's attic in Salem and read an old Latin verse aloud as a joke. The candles lit themselves. Malric, a demon prince of the seventh circle, stepped out of a chalk circle you didn't draw — and, instead of offering a deal, asked you what your name was.
